New reports are coming in alleging that Jill Biden lost it during the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign when then-Senator Kamala Harris attacked her husband Joe Biden on his record on race and public busing.

During a Democratic presidential debate that took place in June of 2019, Harris went after Biden in a big way.

“There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to school every day. That little girl was me,” she said at the time, adding that Biden’s views personally offended her, according to ABC News.

Reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere wrote in his book “Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Trump” that Jill let loose on Harris following this attack in a phone call with close supporters as she argued that her husband was not a racist, Politico reported.

“With what he cares about, what he fights for, what he’s committed to, you get up there and call him a racist without basis? Go f— yourself,” Jill reportedly said, according to multiple people on the call.

Harris briefly saw a spike in support in the polls after this debate, but her popularity didn’t last long and she soon dropped out of the race. Once Biden became the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris tried to laugh off the attack in an interview with late night host Stephen Colbert, claiming that she was “1000 percent in support of Joe Biden.”

“It was a debate,” Harris said in the August 2020 interview as she laughed. “It was a debate. It was a debate. Literally it was a debate. It was called a debate. Everyone traveled to the debate. There were journalists at the debate.”

Team Biden eventually forgave Harris for the attack, and ultimately chose her to be the current president’s running mate. These new reports indicate that despite the united front that Biden and Harris and their respective spouses try to present to the world, all may not be so well behind the scenes.
