Two stories out of DC show the insane effect politics and Covid are having on the city. First, the mayor issues an order reforming Covid regulations. Then within hours backtracks on her own order after screaming meemie health Nazis got to her. Second, she literally tries to launch a dancing ban. Kevin Bacon, call your office.

FNC: “D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser backtracked on new mask guidance for adults fully vaccinated against the coronavirus less than 24 hours after originally issuing it. Bowser issued an order late Friday night that would have shed most mask requirements for fully vaccinated individuals, including allowing them to enter a business without wearing a mask. The order would have allowed people to gather in small groups inside without a mask unless someone in attendance was at an increased risk for COVID-19. A new order Saturday night, however, amended the previous order, instead only dropping restrictions for outdoor gatherings: Any gatherings indoors will require a mask, regardless of vaccination status.
“Businesses may also ask for vaccination status of any individual entering, according to FOX 5 DC. The contradictory orders have left business owners baffled as to how they should operate going forward.”
“I think that the law is pretty clear that folks can ask about vaccination,” Bowser told reporters. “If they are a public-serving facility, however, then they have to be open to the public. The mask mandate applies to private business.”
“We are very confused as to what we can do and what we can’t do,” said Mark Bucher, co-founder of restaurant chain Medium Rare. “That can be a case of the right hand not talking to the left hand, but it isn’t easy for us to distill the tea leaves.”
The city’s website currently says that “businesses and other institutions are authorized to request to see someone’s vaccine card or other adequate proof of vaccination, consistent with any applicable federal or local law.” Your papers please, mein herr.
In related news from FNC: “Seemingly ripped straight from the plot of ‘Footloose,’ Washington, D.C.’s, new social distancing rules ban standing and dancing at weddings. The sudden announcement, made just as wedding season kicks off, has blindsided couples getting ready to tie the knot.”
“It’s insane, it’s been an absolute roller coaster,” says Stephanie Sadowski, a D.C. wedding planner. “They want to have a party. Planning their wedding, they’ve made concessions along the way, they’ve reduced, reduced and reduced their guest count in Washington, D.C.”
“I hope the mayor will start looking at the science and looking at the facts and looking at what the CDC is recommending and allowing,” says Sadowski. She won’t. Both cases show the mayor thinks the leftist Covid narrative is more important than the science or her constituents.
