Adeel Raja, a longtime contributor to CNN, became a focus of controversy on Sunday after users shared deleted tweets that said, “The world today needs a Hitler,” among other comments.

Raja has a history of anti-Semitic tweets, and the Hitler post on Sunday could be interpreted as a call for another Holocaust.

Raja’s comments come amid the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine.

He has since been fired by CNN.

Don Jr.: ‘Hey @cnn This Seems To Be One Of Yours’

The CNN contributor has written dozens of stories for the cable news giant. He deleted the ‘Hitler’ post later as the heat came down on him on social media.

Donald Trump Jr. shared screenshots of the ‘Hitler’ tweet and wrote, “Hey @cnn this seems to be one of yours, but I imagine that surprises no one anymore.”

Raja’s ‘Hitler’ Tweet Just One Of Many

If Raja’s ‘Hitler’ tweet was the only type of post he shared like this it would be bad enough on its own.

But instead, Raja seems to have a history of tweeting anti-Semitic messages, including praising the tyrannical Nazi dictator.

Raja wrote during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, “The only reason I am supporting Germany in the finals — Hitler was a German and he did good with those Jews!”

“My support for Germany is for what Hitler did to the Jews!” read another tweet from 2014.

Raja: ‘Hail Hitler!’

The Daily Caller chronicled a number of Raja’s other Nazi-centric controversial tweets.

“One tweet from Raja’s verified Twitter account said, “Hail Hitler!” reported The Daily Caller.

The Caller noted, “Raja responded to a Twitter user calling for “Palestinian genocide….inner Hitler among Germans must resurface,” by enthusiastically tweeting, “Hell yeah!!!!!”

In another Twitter post, Raja urged terrorist groups to go to Israel, “ISIS, TTP, TALIBAN – please go to Israel ASAP!”

A longtime contributor at CNN

A search of CNN reveals 53 results for the name “Adeel Raja” and it shows that his first article published at CNN’s site is from Jan. 2 2014.

Based in Pakistan, most of the articles CNN features by Raja are related to Pakistan.

CNN spokesman Matt Dornic told Mediaite of the controversy, “Adeel Raja has never been a CNN employee. As a freelancer, his reporting contributed to some newsgathering efforts from Islamabad. However, in light of these abhorrent statements, he will not be working with CNN again in any capacity.”
