Fox News host Tucker Carlson lashed out at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Wednesday night after she claimed there isn’t a “crisis” at the U.S./Mexico border.

“This is not a surge. These are children, and they are not insurgents, and we are not being invaded. Which, by the way, is a white supremacist philosophy,” Ocasio-Cortez said, according to The Hill. “The idea that if another is coming in the population, that this is an invasion of who we are.”

Ocasio-Cortez doubled down on this in a later interview, according to The New York Post.

“This is not an invasion. US foreign policy has contributed to the destabilization of these regions … where the children are fleeing … We have decades of interventionist foreign policies that have contributed to this issue.”

Carson fired back by blasting Ocasio-Cortez as a “low-quality race baiter” who has no idea what she’s talking about when it comes to foreign policy and border security.

“Who cares what she thinks? She’s totally reckless. She’s a racist, openly,” he said on his Fox News show. “I think the key is though is to think clearly about what is best for the United States. Obviously, the border policy now is a disaster, to be fair, it’s been a disaster for a long time.’

“It doesn’t serve the interest of most Americans, and it won’t because people like that use the magic word, ‘racism,’ to cow the rest of the country into submission,” Carlson added, according to Mediaite. “She wants to change the population, she wants her party to be more powerful. I get it. But we’re allowing her and people like her to do that because we are afraid of being called names.”

Carlson went on to declare that Ocasio-Cortez is “someone whose opinion you shouldn’t care about,” and “I don’t care whatever-that-woman’s-name-is thinks, and no one should care what she thinks.”

Ocasio-Cortez was very critical of the situation at the border when Donald Trump was in office, regularly comparing his border facilities to concentration camps.
