Former President Donald Trump has been out of office for months now, but that hasn’t stopped the women of the ABC talk show “The View” from continuing to attack him on what seems to be a daily basis.
During a segment in which the panel discussed the federal investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old, cohost Sunny Hostin bizarrely used the situation to attack Trump despite the fact that the former president has nothing to do with the claims.
“I think this is out of the playbook of the disgrace former twice impeached one-term president,” Hostin said. “This is someone who changed the very moral fabric of the Republican Party. The Republican Party is no longer the party of family values. It’s the insurrection party. It is the party that’s morally bankrupt. There was a president who, you know, paid off porn stars, who cheated on his wife, who was thrice married, who did all these reprehensible things and still had these cult-like followers. His playbook was deny, deny, deny the world of alternative facts, the world of gaslight, gaslight, gaslight.”
“When you change the moral fabric of your party, and when you have Kevin McCarthy saying things like we have a big tent party, all of you are welcome, of course, you’ll have someone like Matt Gaetz on the scared floor of Congress showing pictures of — naked pictures of women,” she added .
Her cohost Meghan McCain spoke out during the segment as well, saying that Gaetz has always had a “weird reputation” in Washington and that he is likely “going to jail” despite the fact that the investigation is still in its early stages.
“There have always been weird rumors about Matt Gaetz on Capitol Hill,” McCain said. “He’s always had a weird reputation. I’m not surprised by this. I’m actually not. What’s particularly gross is he’s the only congressman to vote against an anti-sex trafficking bill that was on the floor last year.”
“It’s particularly disgusting and vile given that Matt Gaetz is on the floor of Congress showing it to people … It’s discussing. I’m so sick of stuff like this, and he should be removed,” she later added. “The most likely scenario is that Matt Gaetz slept with a 17-year-old and sex trafficked her, and he is probably gonna go to jail.”
