President Biden will reportedly be joined by Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday, where he is expected to announce executive action he intends to take regarding gun control.
Politico reports that Biden is preparing to “unveil a long-awaited package of executive actions to curb gun violence.”
Many of the planned executive actions have yet to be revealed, but one report indicates Biden “will direct the administration to begin the process of requiring buyers of so-called ghost guns … to undergo background checks.”
Politico speculates that the President could also introduce his nominee to be the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as well as make a renewed push for legislative action regarding expanded background checks.
“He also is likely to push for legislation to keep guns away from people believed to be a danger to themselves or others, as well as a ban of assault weapons and high capacity magazines,” they write.

Biden Using Executive Action For Gun Control
Biden has consistently hinted that he might use executive orders to enact stringent gun control measures.
“I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take commonsense steps that will save lives in the future and to urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act,” Biden declared following two deadly shootings in Atlanta, Georgia, and Boulder, Colorado.
“The president is somebody throughout his career who has advocated for smart gun safety measures,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters earlier this year.
“He has not been afraid of standing up to the NRA.”

A senior administration official tells Politico the President “has been working hard from Day One to pursue actions to reduce gun violence” and indicated he would roll out his executive actions in “a series of stages.”

Unconstitutional?
President Biden’s push for gun control to be enacted legislatively has been a consistent theme, making it odd that he would use executive orders to implement the change he wants to see.
In March, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) reintroduced The Background Check Expansion Act, legislation that would expand federal background checks on all gun sales, including private transactions.
Biden has supported such efforts, imploring Congress to enact “commonsense gun law reforms” that would include “requiring background checks on all gun sales.”
Instead of seeking support for laws addressing the real underlying factors of gun violence, Biden is pushing politically divisive measures that would turn the right to keep and bear arms on its head without meaningfully making the nation any safer. https://t.co/M2EuFwRKZ8

In 2013, President Barack Obama issued 23 executive orders on gun control, something Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) described as “unconstitutional.”
“We need to remain vigilant and not let the President create bogus executive orders that have no Constitutional authority and no statutory authority,” Gosar said at the time.
Words to heed today as Obama’s former underling in President Biden is poised to make the same exact unconstitutional power grab.
The White House recently confirmed that Biden and Obama regularly keep in touch, talking on the phone and noting the pair “are friends.”
With the President currently doing exactly as Obama did years ago when it comes to gun control, it begs the question of who exactly is in charge here.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
