Although President Biden has yet to complete a single task, he continues to swing for the fences as he makes false promises and pushes useless agendas. Marketed as the man who was going to fix the nation, Biden appears out of his depth as he fumbles speeches, denies a crisis, and takes credit for a vaccine he had no part in. And if that wasn’t enough, the President is now advocating that Washington D.C. become the 51st state in America.

With enough problems to last several terms, Biden can’t seem to help himself when it comes to what is currently trending in America. For the past several months, the Democrats have been pressuring lawmakers to make D.C. an actual state. While this isn’t the first time the suggestion has been made, having a sitting President back the decision might be the leverage needed to make the idea a reality.

Although Biden didn’t come out and say it himself, the White House Office of Management and Budget released a statement showing the President’s support. It reads, “For far too long, the more than 700,000 people of Washington, D.C., have been deprived of full representation in the U.S. Congress. This taxation without representation and denial of self-governance is an affront to the democratic values on which our nation was founded. H.R. 51 rights this wrong by making Washington, D.C., a state and providing its residents with long overdue full representation in Congress, while maintaining a federal district that will continue to serve as our nation’s seat of government.”

It should also be noted that Biden’s support for D.C. statehood isn’t merely a coincidence. The House of Representatives, which is controlled by Democrats, is set to vote on the H.R. 51 this coming Tuesday.

As for the Republicans, they are against the move of statehood. While some have shown support in the past, many now believe that the Democrats and Biden only want to make D.C. a state due to the control shift in the Senate. If D.C. was to become a state, two senators would be added to the Senate and would most likely come from liberal backgrounds. So while Biden claims this is for the 700,000 people who call D.C. home, it could be more about the power dynamic the Democrats are always fighting for.
