House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought to distance herself from Rep. Rashida Tlaib following the far-left Minnesota Democrat’s call to abolish policing because it is “inherently racist.”

Tlaib, part of the ‘Squad’ often pointed to as the future of the Democrat Party, made her comments following the police shooting of a 20-year-old black man, Daunte Wright, in Minnesota.

Wright was pulled over for having an expired license and had an open warrant for his arrest related to an aggravated robbery attempt, court records show.

The officer involved in the shooting of Wright on Sunday reportedly thought she was pulling her taser but instead, accidentally shot him, according to the former Chief of Police, who has now resigned.

Body camera footage released on Monday, according to Fox News, shows Wright “pries himself loose and jumps back into his car,” and the officer shouts repeatedly, “I’ll tase you.”

Instead, she fired a single shot from her handgun and can be heard shouting, “Holy s***! I shot him.”

Tlaib shared her opinion on the matter.

“It wasn’t an accident. Policing in our country is inherently [and] intentionally racist,” she tweeted Monday.

“Daunte Wright was met with aggression [and] violence. I am done with those who condone government funded murder,” she continued. “No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can’t be reformed.”

Pelosi Tries To Run From Tlaib’s Anti-Policing Statements

Perhaps recalling that cries to defund the police decimated the Democrat Party in the 2020 elections, Pelosi tried to run away from Tlaib’s comments.

When questioned about Tlaib’s anti-policing stance, Pelosi dodged and instead pointed to a sweeping police reform bill that the House passed in March in honor of George Floyd.

“As I painfully watched the trial of Derek Chauvin during Holy Week, I was grateful that the House had already passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act,” Pelosi said in a statement desperately playing the religion card.

She did, however, state that the House legislation tries to avoid painting all police as racists, as Tlaib did.

“This is all the more sad with the tragic killing of Daunte Wright this week,” added Pelosi. “Our legislation provides a solution to systemic racism and does not paint all law enforcement with the same brush.”

The bill Pelosi is referencing banned chokeholds and ‘qualified immunity’ for law enforcement officers.

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott has criticized the immunity aspect of the bill saying it was a “redline” for him and, “We have to protect individual officers.”

Barack Obama Calls To ‘Reimagine’ Policing

In a whimsical and ill-advised statement on the Wright incident, former President Barack Obama echoed Tlaib by suggesting America needs to “reimagine policing.”

“The fact that this could happen even as the city of Minneapolis is going through the trial of Derek Chauvin and reliving the heart-wrenching murder of George Floyd indicates not just how important it is to conduct a full and transparent investigation, but also just how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country,” Obama said in a statement.

The absurdity of Obama’s anti-police stance can’t go without scrutiny. As he has throughout his career, Obama is convicting people – the officer in the Wright case and Derek Chauvin – as guilty without any due process.

Chauvin’s trial is currently playing out before the world to see and Obama, a former President, just branded him a murderer.

Meanwhile, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) had the line of the century when he advised those calling to dismantle policing in America what they can do in an emergency.

“If you hate cops just because they are cops, you don’t know a thing about them,” Kennedy said in an interview on Fox News. “The next time you get in trouble call a crackhead.”
