Things just got even worse for Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), as the radically liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has publicly turned on her in the wake of the surge of COVID-19 cases in the state. He demanded that she “shut down restaurants, bars, and businesses,” and that children “stay home from school” until the cases are brought under control.

“I hate to say this, because I voted for her for governor, but she has been scared by people who seek to do violence to her, who bullied her. The business community — the Chamber of Commerce — who have insisted that she reopen everything and this has brought a tragedy upon this upon the state, and so I need everybody’s help in pressuring … Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, to close things down,” Moore said on Monday during an “emergency” episode of his podcast.

“Do not listen to the business community. Yes, they are losing money. There are programs to help them with getting some of this money back, and [for] what they can’t get back, there should be other programs that the Biden administration establishes so that these businesses don’t go bankrupt,” he continued.  “I just need you to help me put pressure on the governor of Michigan. She’s a pro-business governor. She comes from a business family. Her dad was a business executive.”

Whitmer has become infamous among many for enacting some of the strictest COVID-19 measures in the country on her state, but Moore wants her to go even further.

“The governor Michigan has to shut the state down,” he demanded. “People need to stay at home. The schools … need shutdown, just for a little bit, not long. This is not some long-term thing here. This is just right now, immediately, to try and bring an end to this rapid rapid epidemic in Michigan of the U.K. variant.”

“Shut down the restaurants, the bars, the businesses,” Moore continued. “People, stay home, just for a little bit. Stay home from school, just for a little bit. We made a mistake in reopening the state of Michigan too soon. Stop this back and forth, open [and] close, this isn’t working.”

Not stopping there, Moore dramatically warned of a coronavirus “three-to-four-year pandemic” if Whitmer does not do what he’s demanding.

“It’s critical, right now. This doesn’t need to happen,” he said. “We’re never going to get through this, my friends. … We have to go back to what we had on one of my first podcasts back in February of 2020 about this virus [with] the doctors and the scientists I brought on continually to tell you over and over this is not a one-year pandemic. This is probably a three-to-four-year pandemic. Nobody wants to hear that, so because we didn’t want to listen to it, this is what we’re ending up with.”

“Everybody gets your shot. Everybody wear masks,” Moore concluded. “Everybody keep your social distance. Wash your hands.”

Whitmer has already alienated Republicans, so if liberals are starting to turn on her, the governor’s political career may be dead in the water once this is all over.
