Now that the trial of George Floyd is over and the guilty party is held accountable, America can start to heal from the supposed race war that has plagued the nation since last summer. But given that the Democrats control all of Washington, they aren’t done with the racial divide they helped wedge between voters. As Derek Chauvin was being detained, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to release a statement not only showing how tone-deaf she really is, but she also proved that Democrats only care about one thing – narrative.
Standing outside of the capital, with the Congressional Black Caucus in tow, Nancy Pelosi decided to thank George Floyd for his supposed sacrifice in the name of racial justice. She said, “Thank you George Floyd for sacrificing your life for justice. Because of you and because of millions of people around the world who came out for justice, your name will always be synonymous with justice. And now we have to make sure justice prevails in the sentencing.”
While found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter, Chauvin won’t be sentenced until eight weeks from now. And according to Pelosi, this is just the beginning. But while the House Speaker might have thought her comments were just due to the black caucus she brought with her, many took to Twitter to show how tone-deaf Pelosi’s statements were.
What happened to George Floyd is unacceptable and the parties involved should be held accountable, but in no way did Floyd sacrifice himself for the betterment of the Democratic party. Floyd wasn’t the martyr that the media and Big Tech want to make him out to be. Sadly, Floyd was a victim of a racist act that has been dealt with.
But again, given the fact that the Democrats now control the narrative, Pelosi decided to double-down on her comments when she later tweeted, “George Floyd should be alive today. His family’s calls for justice for his murder were heard around the world. He did not die in vain. We must make sure other families don’t suffer the same racism, violence & pain, and we must enact the George Floyd #JusticeInPolicing Act.
Like always, instead of honoring the man whose life was cut short, the Democrats seized the opportunity to push their agenda forward by turning Floyd’s name into nothing more than a pawn in the endless game of politics.
