Chelsea Clinton wants Facebook to ban Tucker Carlson from the platform over a post in which the Fox News host seemingly calls into question the effectiveness of COVID vaccines.

Clinton quote-tweeted a message from Jesse Lehrich, a former spokesman for her mother Hillary, which claimed the top post on Facebook is “about vaccines today” and “Tucker Carlson suggesting they don’t work.”

The post includes a monologue from Carlson in which he states: “If the vaccine is effective, there is no reason for people who have received the vaccine to wear masks or avoid physical contact.”

He adds, “So maybe it doesn’t work and they’re simply not telling you that.”

Chelsea wasn’t pleased to see such a statement circulating on social media.

“In December, [Facebook] banned claims about [COVID-19] vaccines ‘that have been debunked by public health experts,'” she said.

Clinton added the segment was “especially troubling given Republican men are currently most likely to say they’re not interested in being vaccinated.”

Despite Chelsea Clinton’s desire to censor Tucker Carlson over one opinion, one sentence long in a monologue, there is some contention over what he said at all.

Carlson, in responding to criticism from Dr. Anthony Fauci over the same comments, has argued that he “never for a minute doubted” that vaccines work.

Carlson went on to point out that he was questioning why the CDC hadn’t provided data to back up the effectiveness of the vaccines. And why officials continue to act – through masking and continued restrictions – as if they do.

“We assumed they had detailed studies showing that it does work. We still think that,” Carlson said. “The only reason we are asking the question is because the people in charge are acting like it doesn’t work.”

The people he references are prominent individuals who continue to wear masks despite being vaccinated.

“You see the president of the United States wearing a mask outside, you see the vice president doing the same thing,” Carlson added. “You see the guy in charge of coronavirus response … telling us that, again, after you’ve had the vaccine, you must remain under the restrictions.”

“If this stuff works, why can’t you live like it works? What are you really telling us here?”

Why Not Just Address Concerns With Science?

Carlson isn’t the only one to question why some leaders continue masking or double-masking even after they’ve been vaccinated.

Senator Rand Paul accused Fauci for engaging in “theater” for wearing a mask.

“You’re telling everybody to wear a mask whether they’ve had infection or had a vaccine. What I’m saying is they have immunity and everybody agrees they have immunity,” Paul said directly to Fauci at a Senate hearing.

“What studies do you have that people who have had the vaccine or had infection are spreading the infection?” he added. “If we’re not spreading the infection isn’t it just theater? You’ve had the vaccine and you’re wearing 2 masks isn’t that theater?”

For their part, the CDC says they’re “still learning how vaccines will affect the spread of COVID-19,” and that those who are fully vaccinated should “keep taking precautions—like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces—in public places until we know more.”

The CDC also says people who are fully vaccinated can skip other restrictions – they can travel in the U.S., visit other fully vaccinated people without wearing masks, or visit one other unvaccinated household.

The irony here is that Fauci could simply answer Carlson’s concerns and thus address vaccine hesitancy with the public through science.

Instead, he accuses the Fox News host of advancing a “typical crazy conspiracy theory.”

Clinton, in turn, just wants him to be silenced.

And they react this way without even a hint of irony that their wishes for people who have doubts to simply shut up actually help exacerbate the problem.

“If the coronavirus vaccine prevents you from catching the coronavirus, why are you wearing a mask?” Carlson asked. “So that’s the question. It’s not a conspiracy theory. As an American, you should ask it too.”

The real question here is why Clinton doesn’t want you asking those questions. And why the left’s first response is always to shut down the free speech of those they disagree with.
