As the crisis at the Southern Border continues to grow, the Biden Administration is considering sending cash payments to Central Americans along with COVID vaccines to prevent them from making the trek north to the United States.

The conditional cash transfer program would be utilized to address the economic hardships faced by Central Americans that ultimately lead them to come to the United States. The program would specifically target individuals from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

White House Southern Border Coordinator Roberta Jackson relayed this information in an interview with Reuters and said that a majority of illegal immigrants that attempted to cross the border come from those areas. In March, Border Patrol agents picked up approximately 168,000 people, which is the highest number since March 2001.

“We’re looking at all of the productive options to address both the economic reasons people may be migrating, as well as the protection and security reasons,” – Roberta Jacobson

Since Biden has taken office the Southern Border Crisis has continue to grow exponentially with little word from Biden on details or plans to handle the situation. Many migrant children have been left in Border Patrol custody as they await placement by the Department of Health and Human Services.
