With the crisis growing rapidly at the Southern Border on a daily basis, many Americans are starting to become more concerned about the mounting problem as the Biden Administration continues to do little to rectify the situation.

According to a new research poll conducted by Pew Research, Americans’ concern over the crisis at the Southern Border now surpasses the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since Biden has taken office, the number of migrants being detained at the border has reached record numbers. In addition there is concern with the number of migrant children being detained in cages and the number of migrants being released into communities don’t have the resources to properly handle the influx.

Growing concern has also risen about whether or not migrants are being tested for COVID before being released into communities. Americans are becoming increasingly alarmed about the situation and the lack of response from the federal government.

In June, 2020 Pew conducted a research study which revealed 58 percent of Americans viewed the coronavirus as the biggest concern, while only 28 percent of Americans considered illegal immigration a very big problem.

Since June 2020 concerns over the coronavirus have dropped to 47 percent while concerns over illegal immigration have gone up to 48 percent.  Interestingly, the concerns over immigration are seen from both Republicans and Democrats.

While views of most national problems are divided along partisan lines, including illegal immigration, increasing shares of both Republicans and Democrats rate illegal immigration as a very big problem. Nearly three-quarters of Republicans (72%) say illegal immigration is a major problem, up 29 points since last June. The share of Democrats who say this is a major problem is now 29%, compared with 15% nearly a year ago. – Pew Research
