The Trump administration had many things to be justifiably proud of. Perhaps the greatest was its border security policies. From the wall to keeping potential illegals in Mexico, Trump meant business and America was the better for it. The Trump administration was also working to deny funds to Democrat cities who harbored illegal aliens as a matter of policy.

With a pandemic raging and urban violence skyrocketing, the last thing innocent citizens need is a flood of illegal aliens, who are possibly infected with Covid, roaming the streets just when Covid regulations may be easing. But that’s just what the Biden administration is giving them.

FNC: “The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a number of cases testing the Trump administration’s plan to withhold law-enforcement grants from cities that refused to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security efforts to deport noncitizens arrested by local police. The court, which hadn’t yet decided whether it would hear the cases, acted shortly after the Biden administration and state and city governments in New York and California jointly asked the justices to dismiss the pending appeals. Lower courts in New York and San Francisco had reached varying conclusions on the Justice Department’s authority to withhold funds that Congress had authorized to assist local police departments.”

Scotusblog: “The Department of Justice filed one petition, Wilkinson v. City and County of San Francisco, last year, asking the justices to review a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit that the DOJ did not have the authority to impose conditions on the funds. Both the state of New York and New York City filed their own petitions, New York v. Department of Justice and City of New York v. Department of Justice, asking the Supreme Court to review a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit upholding the conditions. In a letter to the Supreme Court on Jan. 27, Acting Attorney General Robert Wilkinson suggested that the court should delay acting on the DOJ’s petition until the Biden administration could determine what position it would take on the issues in the case. The justices then rescheduled the petitions twice, declining to consider them at their Feb. 19 and Feb. 26 conferences, before scheduling them for their March 5 conference.” In that conference the suits were dismissed.

“We’re glad this issue has finally been put to rest,” said San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera. “Federal officials can do their job in San Francisco, just like anywhere else in the country. But we were not about to let our police, firefighters and nurses be commandeered and turned into the Trump administration’s deportation force.” Smart illegals will steer away from San Francisco. It’s worse than the places they left.

“Local law enforcements’ ability to protect their jurisdictions should never be compromised to push an anti-immigrant agenda,” said New York state Attorney General Letitia James. “We look forward to continuing to work with the administration to ensure state and localities never have to choose between protecting their autonomy and protecting the public’s safety.” And American cities will continue to be put at risk so Democrats can try to register illegal voters.
