Criticism from the left was rampant after Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves announced that their states are lifting mask mandates and opening businesses up to full capacity.

Abbott cited advancements in vaccines and medical practices for issuing his new executive order.

“We must now do more to restore livelihoods and normalcy for Texans by opening Texas 100 percent,” he announced.

He added the order ensures “that all businesses and families in Texas have the freedom to determine their own destiny.”

Abbott’s executive order will go into effect Wednesday.

Reeves, whose order begins today declared, “we are lifting all of our county mask mandates and businesses will be able to operate at full capacity without any state-imposed rules.”

“It is time!” he added.

Freedom-Lovers Celebrate the End of Mask Mandates and COVID Restrictions in Texas, Mississippi

Following Abbott’s trailblazing announcement, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) captured the feeling of freedom-lovers everywhere who have been longing for a return to normalcy.

“God bless Texas” she tweeted.

Others were far less appreciative of having lives returned to normal.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blasted Texas for lifting COVID restrictions on businesses and ending the mask mandate, saying such actions “endanger the entire country and beyond.”

“The state just endured one disaster worsened by selfishness + denial of basic science, and now conditions are being set for another,” she said referencing a historic snowstorm that struck Texas last month.

“Repealing the mask mandate now endangers so many people, especially essential workers [and] the vulnerable.”

More Anger From the Left

Chiming in with a completely unwarranted take was California Governor Gavin Newsom who said states like Texas lifting COVID restrictions was “absolutely reckless.”

California actually surpassed New York as the state with the most deaths due to the COVID pandemic, despite Newsom’s stringent and draconian lockdown efforts.

Throw in the fact that Newsom has been caught more than once flaunting his own COVID restrictions, and you have a serious case of Grade A hypocrisy.

The Washington Post editorial board followed up with an op-ed saying Texas lifting of mask mandates “is gambling with the health of his state and beyond.”

“While everyone is eager for a break from restrictions, Mr. Abbott’s decision is premature and reckless,” they write.

Then there was this stupidity from the pearl-clutchers on social media which led to “RIP Texas” trending on Twitter.

Meanwhile, President Biden predicted the rest of the country won’t return to normal until “this time next year.”

Funny how when mask mandates, social distancing, and involuntary lockdowns were first foisted upon the American people the federal government used a catchy slogan called “15 days to flatten the curve.”

Now it’s two years according to Biden.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who presides over another state that refused to cater to lockdown group think, said in his State of the State address Tuesday, “While so many other states kept locking people down, Florida lifted people up.”

“Every parent has a right to send a child to school in-person,” he said.

“All Floridians have a right to earn a living – and our citizens are employed at higher rates than those in the nation as a whole,” DeSantis added. “Every job is essential.”

Not in AOC, Newsom, or Biden’s world, it isn’t.
