Former ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley took to Twitter on Sunday to praise former President Donald Trump for the speech that he gave at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Sunday. Her comments came as a surprise to some, as she appeared to publicly turn on Trump just a few weeks ago,.

“Strong speech by President Trump about the winning policies of his administration and what the party needs to unite behind moving forward,” Haley wrote. “The liberal media wants a GOP civil war. Not gonna happen.”

This came weeks after Haley publicly condemned Trump over the Capitol riots that took place in January. She went so far as to say that the former president will not be politically relevant in the future.

“I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture. I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far,” she told Politico . “We need to acknowledge he let us down. He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him.”

Haley went on to lash out at Trump for blaming his election loss on Vice President Mike Pence.

“When I tell you I’m angry, it’s an understatement,” she said. “Mike has been nothing but loyal to that man. He’s been nothing but a good friend of that man.” Haley continued, “I am so disappointed in the fact that [despite] the loyalty and friendship he had with Mike Pence, that he would do that to him. Like, I’m disgusted by it.”

Haley then said she was “surprised” and “disturbed” by Trump’s behavior.

“Never did I think he would spiral out like this,” she said. “I don’t feel like I know who he is anymore. … The person that I worked with is not the person that I have watched since the election.”

It was reported afterwards that Haley issued a request to meet with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate, but he turned her down.
