Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the creation of “Operation Lone Star” to combat human trafficking.  The operation will combine forces from the Department of Public Safety as well as the National Guard. In areas that are considered to be high risk, Governor Abbott has also ordered the deployment of air, ground, marine and tactical security forces assets to assist with the operation.

“The crisis at our southern border continues to escalate because of Biden Administration policies that refuse to secure the border and invite illegal immigration. Texas supports legal immigration but will not be an accomplice to the open border policies that cause, rather than prevent, a humanitarian crisis in our state and endanger the lives of Texans. We will surge the resources and law enforcement personnel needed to confront this crisis.” – Governor Abbott

Operation Lone Star was created after a meeting in February with Colonel Steve McCraw, Director of TX Department of Public Safety and Governor Abbott who had seen an overwhelming increase in illegal crossings at the Texas border after Biden had opened up the border when he took office.  In a one week time frame over 10,000 migrants were detained by Border Patrol agents near the Rio Grande section of the border.

In Brownsville, city officials are seeing a surge in migrants coming in who are getting ready to board buses to get into the US interior who have tested positive for the coronavirus, and have no authority to do anything. An individual who works there said they are not allowed to ask for coronavirus test results before people get onto the bus. While the Trump administration fought to keep the coronavirus out, it appears the Biden administration is welcoming the virus in.
