Tanden OMB Nomination Sinking Fast

Biden is probably already looking for somebody else.

Neera Tanden has been one of the most aggressive leftist partisans in DC for years. From her perch at a leftist think tank, Tanden spewed invective and personal insults at anybody who disagreed with her far left agenda. Faced with an OMB nomination, she and the White House want you to believe that is all in the past. Within a matter of weeks she has supposedly given up decades of over the top rancor and thus is now qualified to serve as Office of Management and Budget director. Uh huh. Right.

FNC: Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Monday that she will not support President Biden’s nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden, dealing another blow to the odds of confirmation.”

“Congress has to be able to trust the OMB director to make countless decisions in an impartial manner, carrying out the letter of the law and congressional intent,” said Collins. “Neera Tanden has neither the experience nor the temperament to lead this critical agency.”

Senator Joe Manchin, Democrat of West Virginia, said last week that he would vote no on her nomination because of her “overly partisan” statements. Collins also has concerns over Tanden’s Twitter account. What is it with idiot political types and Twitter?

“Ms. Tanden’s decision to delete more than a thousand tweets in the days before her nomination was announced raises concerns about her commitment to transparency,” Collins said. “Should Congress need to review documents or actions taken by OMB, we must have confidence that the Director will be forthcoming. The OMB needs steady, experienced, responsive leadership. I will vote against confirming  Ms. Tanden,” Collins commented. Given the 50-50 Senate, that should kill the nomination unless a Republican Quisling goes south.

The White House predictably played the race card, as if her race was a qualification. Racist to the core, these people.

“Neera Tanden accomplished policy expert, would be 1st Asian American woman to lead OMB, has lived experience having benefitted from a number of federal programs as a kid, looking ahead to the committee votes this week and continuing to work toward her confirmation,” said White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

“I think we are going to find the votes to get her confirmed,” Biden said. He’s no doubt already looking for someone else.

In her Senate confirmation hearing, Senator Rob Portman, Republican of Ohio, said that even after Tanden deleted a lot of her tweets attacking Ted Cruz there were still nine pages still up. Nine pages. Not exactly reformed, is she.

“I wonder, specifically, how do you plan to mend fences and build relationships with members of Congress you have attacked through your public statements?” Portman asked. Bingo.

Likely on White House orders, Tanden groveled. “I deeply regret and apologize for my language — some of my past language. I recognize that this role is a bipartisan role, and I know I have to earn the trust of senators across the board. I will work very aggressively to meet that concern.” Too little too late, Bolshevik. You’re done.
