Slowly but surely the Democrats are turning on each other as there are only so many Republicans they can attack in a single day. Their most recent target is somewhat surprising giving the fact that this was the Dem’s golden child back in the day. That’s right, former President Obama has recently come under fire for not seeking reparations when he was in office.
Teaming up with the famous draft dodger Bruce Springsteen, President Barrack Obama thought it would be a great idea to start a podcast. Since the Democrats control all of Washington, it was only a matter of time before they called for a more liberal source of entertainment, and who better than Obama.
Coining the name “Renegades: Born in the USA”, the pair talked about everyday woes and didn’t dare tiptoe into the realm of trying to fix the broken country. It wasn’t until near the end that the question about reparations for Black Americans came up, and like a true Democrat – Obama sided with the controversial policy, blaming “White resistance” for the problems the black community is facing.
According to the former President, ” What I saw during my presidency was the politics of White resistance and resentment. The talk of ‘welfare queens’ and the talk of the ‘undeserving’ poor. And the backlash against affirmative action. All that made the prospect of actually proposing any kind of coherent, meaningful reparations program struck me as, politically, not only a nonstarter but potentially counterproductive.”
It is interesting that Obama would suddenly have a change of heart when it comes to reparations. While he might sit behind a mic and claim to be fighting for the lower class, in 2008 he actually opposed reparations stating, “the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed.”
While the former President claims there was nothing he could have done, he was quick to put the blame on, you guessed it – white people. Obama said it was, “perfectly understandable why working-class White folks, middle-class White folks, folks who are having trouble paying the bills or dealing with student loans, wouldn’t be too thrilled about a massive program that is designed to deal with the past but isn’t speaking to their future.”
