Longtime CNN host Brooke Baldwin left her fans shocked on Tuesday when she announced that she will be leaving the network in the spring, and she didn’t hide the fact that she doesn’t have another job lined up.

Baldwin opened her show “CNN Newsroom” on Tuesday by saying that she is leaving the network in April.

placeholder“There is just more that I need to do, more that I need to do outside of this place, outside the walls of this place, a place I have been privileged to call home now for 13 years,” Baldwin said. “And yep, we are still in a pandemic. And no, I don’t have a job I’m jumping right into. And yes, I’m feeling very, very vulnerable. But what is it Brené Brown says, ‘Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change.’ And I am so excited as to what’s to come.”

“So, here it goes: I really do hope you’ll join me, and in the meantime, I’ll be right here with you, right her until mid-April,” she added. “Now, to the news.”

Fans got an indication that all was not well between Baldwin and CNN last fall, when a cryptic message she posted on Instagram indicated that she may have been forced off the air. This came after CNN announced that host Jake Tapper would be taking over her time slot in the lead-up to the 2020 election with an extended weekday show.

“As the election gears up, the political maestro @jaketapper will hold down my hour and his for the coming weeks. Wish I was with you, but I’ll see ya on [TV] on the flip side of the election,” Baldwin wrote on Instagram at the time, according to Fox News.

Baldwin responded to fans questioning why this was happening by insisting that she is “healthy.”

“Why are you taking so many weeks off at such an important time?” one fan asked, to which Baldwin replied, “Not my choice.”

Baldwin is a Peabody Award winner who joined CNN back in 2008, according to Deadline. Aside from her anchoring duties on the network, she is also the creator and host of CNN’s digital series “American Woman,” which focuses on the stories of trailblazing women who have broken down barriers in various fields.
