Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and a host of other Democrats want the minimum wage raised to $15 an hour. No matter that it would create job loss during a pandemic. No matter that it would put more people on unemployment. In fact, that’s just what most of the Democrats want. More people reliant on government and thankful to their government paymasters makes the Democrats very happy. Real Americans would prefer to be self-reliant. But no parasitic relationship with government, no Democrat majority. Nevertheless, two moderate Democrats stand in the way of the wage hike.

FNC: “Members of Congress have signaled a renewed focus on President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus plan after the conclusion of last weekend’s impeachment trial of former President Trump. Biden is scheduled to visit Milwaukee on Tuesday and is expected to sell his $1.9-trillion coronavirus stimulus plan that seems to be in jeopardy over a minimum wage provision. The Financial Times, citing the White House, reported that Biden intends to make his case about the importance of ‘maintaining economic support’ during the country’s COVID-19 recovery. He is expected to talk about the need to make investments ‘to strengthen our collective competitiveness and the importance of updating global rules to tackle economic challenges such as those posed by China.’ ”

Bernie Sanders, the new chairman of the Committee on the Budget, said Sunday raising the minimum wage to $15 is not a “radical idea.”

“What’s radical is the fact that millions of Americans are forced to work for starvation wages, while 650 billionaires became over $1 trillion richer during a global pandemic. Yes. We must raise the minimum wage to a living wage,” he tweeted. But Rep. Dan Crenshaw, Republican of Texas, reminded him of his usual hypocrisy.

However, Senators Manchin of West Virginia and Sinema of Arizona, both Democrats, have a better grasp of economics than socialist Sanders. They won’t vote right now for a $15 minimum wage. Sinema said to Politico she thought the priority should be on COVID-19 relief.

“The minimum wage provision is not appropriate for the reconciliation process,” she said. “It is not a budget item. And it shouldn’t be there.” So, sorry Joe and Bernie. Not this time.
