Many of us have served our country in the military. At no time were any of us ever asked our political views. The 1st Infantry, my old unit, was not asked their voter registration status on Omaha Beach. The boys at the Pusan Perimeter and at the Chosin Reservoir were not polled as to their presidential preferences. The Marines at Hue did not have “I Voted!” stickers affixed to their flak jackets on the way into the fight.

But in Joe Biden’s America the armed forces must pass ideological purity tests to take on a mission. It seems Biden wants a party loyal military, a virtual Waffen SS, to do his bidding. That does not auger well for “healing”, nor does it bode tranquility for the White House’s relationship to the Pentagon.

For someone should remind Biden leadership, few if any who have served in the military, that there is such a thing as an unlawful order. Enlisted personnel and officers may refuse an order that would violate the Constitution or accepted norms of service. Yes, there could be a price to be paid. But a politicized military could put soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines in such a quandary. Actual patriots in uniform, not false patriots who riot or destroy for any cause, could honorably and legitimately refuse such high octane partisan orders from a Commander in Chief or superior officer. If they did, a constitutional crisis would be in the making. That is the gamble Joe Biden is taking with his political reliability tests for military personnel.

FNC: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday said he finds it ‘offensive’ that the FBI is vetting National Guard members, including those from his own state, ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.”

“This is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard,” Abbott wrote. “No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard. I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC,” Abbott wrote. “I’ll never do it again if they are disrespected like this.”

AP: “Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, has been meeting with Guard troops as they arrive in D.C. and as they gather downtown. He said he believes there are good processes in place to identify any potential threats. ‘If there’s any indication that any of our soldiers or airmen are expressing things that are extremist views, it’s either handed over to law enforcement or dealt with the chain of command immediately,’ he said.”

The issue is, by whose standards? By the standards of leftist Biden appointees, a normal conservative is considered an extremist. And was there vetting for Antifa or Black Lives Matter supporters? It is very doubtful. This is a dangerous road, a very dangerous road.
