While nothing is set in stone yet and the final tally may take days or longer, smart money seems to bode badly for the Republican Party on in the near term. Most news outlets are calling Warnock a winner and saying the other race is close, with a clear advantage going to Ossoff. Some outlets have called it for Ossoff.

The seeming, at 3am Wednesday morning press time, Republican loss of both Senate seats in Georgia will only increase the divide in the party as fingers will be pointed and recriminations flow freely.

The numbers at 2am Wednesday? Noted president scholar Dr. Tim Blessing, “Republicans are down one seat–& behind in the other with at least 100,000 more votes to go . . . most of which are in heavily Democratic areas.”

Who to blame? Some will blame the president, who said the runoff was “illegal.” Others will blame attorney Lin Wood, who told Republicans not to vote in Georgia. Certain people will blame Mitch McConnell for not passing $2000 Covid-19 stimulus payments. Many will claim cheating gave the Democrats the victory. Still others will blame Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

There is a certain wisdom in two of those assertions. But the real reason the Republicans lost in Georgia and maybe the White House in November is the ascendancy of identity politics in America today.

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

On the Left, voters see politics through a personal prism that has nothing to do with merit or policies. If you belong to the correct grievance group you will have their votes. That’s why the Abrams machine is so effective in Georgia, especially with black voters. It’s because a demographic shoulder chip means more than anything else to myriad numbers of voters.

As such, Georgia voters likely elected a racist Marxist woman-abusing America-hating lunatic to the US Senate. Raphael Warnock’s apparent win is a testament to much of a society sick with an internal masochism and a bitter cultural loathing of anything that does not fit a leftist narrative.

What is in store if these numbers hold and the Republicans lose both seats? Kevin McCarthy becomes the leader of the Republican Party, as he, and only him, brought victory this election cycle to the Republican banner on a national basis. The president’s coattails were not long in Georgia and his influence will diminish accordingly. Mitch McConnell will need all his tricks to fight in the Senate. The march today in DC will be angry and those there will be on a hair trigger, looking to act out their political ire.

Was it planned that way, to put these people in DC the day after a possible big Republican loss? Is the point to get them further riled up? Will we see, because of the Georgia loss and their concurrent frustration with the Republican Party, the rollout of a Trumpian political party? Perhaps, the Patriot Party? Will the Patriots do to the Republicans what the Republicans did to the Whigs?

The timing is interesting. Very interesting, as the tension is racheted up by various personalities and events. Yup, Tuesday and Wednesday will be notable days in American history. Finally, the country is probably about to go through at least a 2 year crucible of dire proportions. It will not be pretty and may get sporty. Pray for America. She’s gonna need it.
