Since the Capitol Hill riots, the media hasn’t been able to stop reporting on it. The headlines continue to showcase Trump and his supporters in a bad light. According to the media, it was all of Trump’s doing. He had somehow energized the crowd to storm the buildings that left five people dead. But as the dust settles, the truth is starting to come to light and the media’s narrative might not be all that correct.

Shortly after the riots, stories began to circulate of heroes that fought off the rebels who wanted to overthrow America. Again, this is the story that CNN, MSNBC, and even Fox News are reporting. One of those stories was titled, “How A Swift Impeachment Was Born Under Siege,” and in it, there is a story about a congressman who was so scared for his life that he grabbed a crowbar to defend himself. There are other similar stories circulating on how AOC and other politicians were scared of dying. But let’s look at the facts and see how close they were to danger.

The congressman that CNN was talking about was Rep. Ted Lieu, the Democrat from California. While he was at the Capitol during the riots, he didn’t grab a crowbar to protect himself, he was actually hungry and decided to grab a ProBar energy bar.

The real story broke when the President of Security Studies Group, Jim Hanson, tweeted, “@CNN published this piece on the Storming of the Capitol with a claim @RepTedLieu grabbed a crowbar as he left his office…as if he was going to fight the mob. It was actually a PowerBar & Ted had to make sure it was vegan before he could eat it.”

After the tweet was made, CNN was quick to make the correction and most people appeared to have a good laugh. But this story again shows the false narrative that the media is trying to push. They want Americans to believe that the people who stormed the Capitol were Domestic Terrorists when that isn’t the case. These were Americans tired of being pushed around by their government and wanted to make their voices heard.
