Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirms that construction of the southern border wall has been halted following an executive order signed by President Biden.
Last week, Biden signed a slew of orders, some of which ended Trump’s border emergency declaration and put a stop to funding for construction of the southern border wall within seven days.
“Building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution,” a Biden proclamation reads. “It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security.”
CBP issued a statement confirming that construction had been suspended.
“CBP, in coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has suspended wall construction projects except for activities that are safety related,” they wrote.
“All projects are in compliance with the President’s Proclamation.”

Biden Executive Order Halts Border Wall Construction
Former President Trump, in one of his last public appearances, visited Alamo, Texas to check on the progress of the wall on the U.S. southern border.
In September, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) celebrated the efforts of the Trump administration, releasing a statement that they are “building (a) new wall and doing so faster than ever before.”
They vowed to complete a 450-mile section at “some of the highest-trafficking and therefore most critical sectors of the southern border for illegal crossings and apprehensions” by year’s end.
They achieved that goal.
And while Biden claims a wall is a waste of money that fails to protect the American people, DHS disagrees.
The wall, they write, is designed to “protect Americans from crimes committed by illegal aliens, stem the flow of deadly hard narcotics into our communities, and rebuild a competitive economy that serves the American worker.”
The @TXAG is right to file the suit against the Biden administration- just ask Border Patrol agents and ICE officers who at times are releasing criminals (some violent) back into our nation – instead of sending them back to their country of origin … #BorderWall

Democrats Celebrate Biden’s Move
Fox News reports that “Democrats welcomed the development” that CBP had halted construction of the border wall.
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) called it a “promising step” and vowed to “remain steadfast in my commitment to working with the new administration until every border wall contract is terminated and all construction crews leave our border communities.”
If only he was concerned about the actual safety of those communities rather than portraying border security officials as the enemy.

Additionally, halting the construction of the border wall means an end to money and jobs involved in canceled contracts.
Last month, then-acting CBP chief Mark Morgan warned that suspending border wall construction will “cost taxpayers billions of dollars, billions of dollars in settlement fees.”
Not to mention the money and jobs that will be lost through the act of illegally entering the country at taxpayer expense.
