Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) showed that her hatred for President Donald Trump is going just as strong as ever over the weekend when she relentlessly bashed him during a meeting with her leadership.
“I’m counting down the hours ‘til he’s gone. I plan to pull him out of there by his hair, his little hands, and his feet,” Pelosi said, according to Politico.
Pelosi said this as Democrat and Republican lawmakers negotiated a massive coronavirus relief and government funding bill this past weekend. It’s been a full year since Trump and Pelosi have actually spoken, as they have not talked since she accused the president of having a “meltdown” during a meeting at the White House in October of 2019.
“I don’t speak to the president. I speak to his representative,” Pelosi said back in October of this year. “Quite frankly, my experience with the president has been that it hasn’t been on the level. You know, he’ll say something and then it doesn’t really happen. So in the interest of time, we’ll work with who he sends over.”
As for Trump, he’s defended not speaking to Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
“I know Pelosi, I know Schumer very well. They don’t want to make a deal because they think it’s good for politics if they don’t make a deal,” Trump said in September, referring to COVID relief negotiations. “I’m taking the high road by not seeing them. That’s the high road.”
Pelosi has previously called Trump “morbidly obese,” while he’s referred to her as “crazy Nancy” and “nuts” and even “crazy as a bedbug.”
Supporters of the president would argue that Pelosi has had it out for him from the very beginning, however, as she has rarely missed an opportunity to publicly bash him in the four years he’s been in office. How could any of us forget the moment that she disrespected the president by ripping up his State of the Union address, a move that earned her a standing ovation from Democrat lawmakers.
Joe Biden and other Democrats may claim that they want “unity,” but Pelosi’s latest comments show that they actually want anything but that.
