Rep. Eric Swalwell’s continued presence on the House Intel Committee, because of the Fang Fang Affair, is an affront to American national security. House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California knows it and is bringing pressure to get him removed.

FNC: “The FBI briefing on Rep. Eric Swalwell’s ties to a suspected Chinese spy made it clear that he should not remain on the House Intelligence Committee, House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said on “Sunday Morning Futures. The classified briefing on Friday included only McCarthy and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.”

“I was not briefed. That is when I first learned about it,” McCarthy said. “I had two different FBI briefings scheduled that were canceled on the day, and now it came on Friday, and we were briefed together, Speaker Pelosi and myself, for more than an hour…No one that was in that room could walk out and say Eric Swalwell should be on the intel committee. The one answer that I got out of that briefing was there is no way Eric Swalwell should continue to serve on the intel committee. Because if this individual is sitting on this committee … they’ve got to know the background of what has gone on,” he said.”

How and when did this begin? McCarthy fills us in. “And that exact same year when the FBI came to brief the Intel Committee because they were concerned of what they saw, he gets put as the ranking Democrat over the CIA,” McCarthy said. “I do not understand how this has continued this long… And I would never, never allow him on that committee…If you read the press, it was the FBI that went to him … not he going to them …” McCarthy added. “I would assume it would be pretty serious if the FBI came to you [and said] that they knew this person was a spy for another country.”

“I know he should not be serving on Intel,” McCarthy strongly declared. “What I read in the paper, this individual got to know him as a city councilman, helped him run for Congress, and remember what Eric Swalwell did last year? He ran for president, as well. He’s raised a lot of questions on other people…I just think for what I know, for what the FBI presented, it is without a shadow of a doubt, I have no question as a Republican leader, I would never appoint anyone with that information I have on them.”

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich agrees and further edifies. “Swalwell is not alone in California Democratic Party ties to Communist China. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, at one time chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, had a driver for 20 years with ties to Chinese intelligence…In fact, a National Review story by Zachary Evans that described part of the Swalwell-Fang connection also identified Fang as a Feinstein staffer. Swalwell had participated in an event organized by Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese spy who developed a relationship with Swalwell between 2011 and 2015, according to a year-long investigation by Axios which found that Fang bundled campaign donations for the congressman and even had an intern placed in his office.” This is too much. Swalwell must leave the Intel Committee and Congress.
