Fox News anchor Chris Wallace snapped at Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar on Sunday when the member of Donald Trump’s administration refused to refer to Joe Biden as the “president-elect.”

While interviewing Azar on “Fox News Sunday,” Wallace was quick to interrupt him when he described Biden as the “former Vice President” instead of as the “president-elect.” Azar said this after Wallace asked him if America would “be in much better shape” had Trump embraced face masks in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic “like Joe Biden is right now.”

“I welcome Vice President Biden to the club. Since the middle of April, the president’s guidelines for re-opening have called for masks—” Azar began before he was rudely cut off by Wallace.

“He’s the president-elect, sir,” Wallace said, referring to Biden. “He’s the president-elect.”

Undeterred by this interjection, Azar went on to encourage Americans to wear face masks to protect themselves from COVID-19. Once he was done speaking, however, Wallace felt the need to chastise him once again.

“But first of all, it’s the President-Elect Joe Biden, Secretary Azar,” Wallace said. “And secondly, the fact is the president said on the first day, April 30, that he wasn’t going to wear a mask. He didn’t wear a mask in public for three months until July.”

“And just last night at that rally in Georgia, not only didn’t he wear a mask — but I was watching the rally — thousands of people packed together, none of which I could see were wearing a mask,” the Fox News host added. “That is a direct violation of what the CDC and what you are recommending.”

This came one day after President Trump reacted to a Washington Post story about the Republican lawmakers who have described Biden as the “president-elect.”
