Like any country, America isn’t without its mistakes. There have been things done in the past that were horrible and atrocities were committed. Luckily, that is all in the past and not the future. The reason is that we learn from the past as to not commit the same act in the future. While simple to grasp, the left believes in order to right the wrong of our ancestors, we are to completely wipe it off the face of the earth.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, a time for celebration and giving thanks, four statues attributed to the foundation of one of the greatest countries in the world were defaced and vandalized in the name of the “LANDBACK” campaign. Never heard of it. Don’t worry, we have you covered.

The LANDBACK campaign is a movement that aims to reclaim the land that was stolen from the indigenous people. While their cause sounds just, their actions are that of looters and vandals. They claim on their website that they want to…

  • Dismantle — white supremacy structures that forcefully removed us from our Lands and continue to keep our Peoples in oppression.
Bureau of Land Management, National Parks Service
  • Defund — white supremacy and the mechanisms and systems that enforce it and disconnect us from stewardship of the Land.
Police, military-industrial complex, Border Patrol, ICE
  • Return — All public lands back into Indigenous hands.
  • Consent — Moving us out of an era of consultation and into a new era of policy around Free and Prior Informed Consent.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, they also want Mount Rushmore back as they stated, “The closure of Mount Rushmore, return of that land and all public lands in the Black Hills, South Dakota is our cornerstone battle, from which we will build out this campaign. Not only does Mount Rushmore sit in the heart of the sacred Black Hills, but it is an international symbol of white supremacy and colonization.”

With more demands than Black Lives Matter, the LANDBACK campaign hasn’t gained much traction, causing its members to lash out in cities like Portland where they tagged business with slogans saying, “Colonizer”, “Land Back”, “Stolen Land”, and “No Thanks, No Giving”.

As for the statues that were vandalized, they ranged all over America and were of Abraham Lincoln, who helped free Black Americans, President William McKinley, George Washington, a founding father, and a statue that represented veterans from the Mexican, Spanish, and Indian Wars, and the Civil war in a renowned Portland Cemetery.
