Andrew Cuomo went on a rant against police who refuse to enforce his lockdown rules, insinuating they aren’t true law enforcement officers.

Last week, the New York governor restricted the number of people that can attend a Thanksgiving gathering in a private residence and imposed a curfew on bars and restaurants.

“We know indoor gatherings and parties are a major source of COVID spread,” he announced. “To slow the spread, NYS will limit indoor gatherings at private residences to 10 people.”

The edict produced a backlash amongst several sheriffs in the Empire State, with some even saying they would not be enforcing the arbitrary rules.

Sheriff Argues Cuomo’s Lockdown Rules Are Unconstitutional

Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino, in an interview with FOX Business Network’s “Varney & Co.,” called the restrictions inside one’s own home “unconstitutional.”

“I’m not against the governor; I’m against his executive order,” Giardino said. “I think it’s unconstitutional … If anyone’s outside, I’m going to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving and tell them to enjoy some well-deserved time with their family.”

The sheriff even revealed the extent of Cuomo’s executive order, noting it “says you’ve got to wear a mask inside the house and disinfect when people leave.”

“It’s absurd,” Giardino added.

Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York, called Cuomo a “petty tyrant” over the new COVID restrictions and advised the public not to abide by his “petty, despotic edicts.”

A handful of sheriffs in upstate counties also declared they would not enforce Cuomo’s lockdown rules, though their concerns were more about using resources to police people in their own homes as opposed to emergencies such as 911 calls.

Rather than responding in a reasoned, measured approach, Cuomo attacked those in law enforcement who refused to carry out his whim as maybe not being true officers of the law.

“I don’t believe that person is a law enforcement officer,” Cuomo told reporters Wednesday. “I don’t want a law enforcement officer who says, ‘I’m only enforcing the law that I like or think should be enforced.’”

The Democrat governor went on to equate mask-wearing and private gatherings to domestic violence.

“Well, ‘I’m not going to enforce domestic violence laws because that’s a family affair?'” he mocked. “No: There’s a law and you have to enforce the law, or don’t call yourself a law enforcement officer.”

Cuomo has been on edge of late, perhaps because people are starting to realize no politician in America has been more responsible for COVID-related deaths through specific traceable action.

He attacked Wall Street Journal reporter Jimmy Vielkind, a typically friendly journalist, for pointing out that parents are confused over New York City’s school closing rules.

“Let’s try not to be obnoxious and offensive in your tone,” he said to Vielkind in an obnoxious and offensive tone.

He would later add that it was the reporter who is “confused,” spoke to them like a child in explaining that schools would not be closed, then shortly thereafter found out the schools had neem closed by NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Cuomo has been embroiled in a coronavirus scandal which many believe cost thousands of senior citizens their lives at the hands of the pandemic.

The Democrat governor issued an executive order in March that critics say forced nursing homes to take on patients that had tested positive for coronavirus.

The spread inside those nursing homes was devastating.

Cuomo, the leader of a state which had by far the most number of COVID-related deaths, is currently selling a book about how he conquered the pandemic.
