President Donald Trump spoke out on Monday to blast the “dumb bastards” on CNN, specifically targeting host Chris Cuomo, who he once again referred to as “Fredo.”

While speaking to an outdoor audience in Prescott, Arizona, Trump accused CNN of hyping up the coronavirus pandemic in an attempt to depress voting.

“You turn on CNN, this is all they cover. COVID, COVID, pandemic, COVID, COVID, COVID, COV-ah-ah. You know why, they’re trying to talk everybody out of voting. People aren’t buying it, CNN, you dumb bastards,” Trump said, according to The New York Post.

“You watch this guy, he’s got lousy ratings, Fredo, you know Fredo?” he added, referring to Cuomo.

“Gets horrible ratings. He’s talking about the pandemic, it’s all they talk about,” Trump said of the younger brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. “I don’t know he said he had it. I’m not sure he had it. he went to the basement, it’s the only time his ratings were up. People wanted to see what was gonna happen, probably get it again even though in theory, you’re not supposed to.”

Trump then zeroed in on Governor Cuomo, blaming him for the COVID-19 death toll in New York.

The president later told the crowd that he was holding the “biggest rallies in history” in the final two weeks before the November election, and he pledged that the pandemic would end soon with a vaccine.

Chris Cuomo is known to hate being called “Fredo,” as the nickname refers to a spineless character from the movie The Godfather. Cuomo infamously had a meltdown when a stranger in New York City called him “Fredo,” prompting the CNN host to claim that the word is an offensive slur to Italians everywhere.

CNN has been against Trump for years, and he has long had an adversarial relationship to the network, which he has often dubbed “fake news.” Trump’s latest comments about CNN and Cuomo will clearly to nothing to improve his relationship with the network.
