House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) showed how cocky and smug she really is going into next week’s election, saying that she is convinced that Joe Biden will beat President Donald Trump.

“I feel very confident that Joe Biden will be elected president on Tuesday,” Pelosi said, adding that votes may continue to be counted past the November 3 Election Day.

“On Jan. 20, he will be inaugurated president of the United States,” Pelosi said, according to Fox News. “So while we don’t want to be overconfident or assume anything, we have to be ready for how we’re going to go down a different path.”

If that doesn’t sound “overconfident,” I’m not sure what would!

“We are confident. We are calm. And we are prepared. We are ready,” Pelosi added of the election.

While Pelosi praised early voting by mail as a “joy to behold.” she also warned Americans to stop mailing in their ballots, because it is now too late for them to make it in on time.

“I hope that people will not depend on the mail because they have done all they can to dismantle the postal system,” the Speaker said. “I salute our postal workers and letter carriers and those who are making the best of the situation, but even the Postal Service is saying it’s too late now to mail a first-class piece of mail.”

Pelosi also made sure to sprinkle in some of her usual bashing of Trump and his fellow Republicans, implying that they are trying to sow doubt into the validity of the election and for not putting more money into election to stop the long voting lines.

“It is appalling to see the obstacles to participation that the Republicans and the president are putting in the way,” she said. “It’s a discourtesy to the American people to say: ‘You go stand in line for hours. We can do something about it. But your time is not worth anything to us.'”

Pelosi has effectively given up on coming to an agreement on coronavirus relief with the Trump administration, and now wants to wait until Biden is in office to find a solution.

Pelosi would do well to remember how cocky she was in 2016 that Hillary Clinton would beat Trump. It’s funny how history always ends up repeating itself.
