In our nation’s major cities property has no worth, as mobs, while police look on impotently, can loot and ransack at will with no criticism from hard left Democrat city governments.

The excuse for rioting now? Anything. This time, in DC, a guy was riding a moped without a helmet on. He crashes after an incident with a car. Police rush to the scene and administer CPR. He dies later at a hospital. Who is at fault according to his family? Of course, the police.

FNC: “Protests erupted in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday — for the second straight night — over the death of a black moped driver who police said collided with another vehicle shortly after officers activated their emergency lights. Reports indicated that some protests were peaceful, but violent clashes with police eventually broke out, Fox 5 DC reported a protester threw a firework at officers that reportedly caused several to suffer minor injuries. Andy Ngo, a journalist who covers these protests, posted a video that reportedly showed a firework that seemed to get caught between an officer’s leg before exploding.”

Metropolitan Police said Karon Hylton, 20, had been operating a Revel Electric Moped without a helmet on. He hit a vehicle as he left an alley. Police performed CPR, the statement said. Karen Hylton, the dead moped driver’s mother, asked to speak to Mayor Muriel Bowser about the incident and has absurdly blamed the police for his death.

Roger Mitchell, the deputy mayor of public safety and justice, said in a statement, “We are engaged directly with the next of kin about their ability to view the body-worn camera footage. We are coordinating with the Department of Behavioral Health to provide the family with the space and trauma-informed support they need to view the body-worn camera footage.”

What we are seeing here is the phenomenon of moral relativity. It was used during the Cold War to justify antinuke sentiments only directed against the West, as it equated the Soviets and the West in an equal moral sense. It forgot, or intentionally misled, that we were defending freedom and the Soviets were a tyrannical regime. It’s what Churchill called not knowing the difference between the fire and the fire department.

In America today we take vicious looters, violent left wing racists, and people who get into tragic moped accidents because they weren’t wearing a helmet, and put them in a much worse moral class than men and women who protect us night and day and who would, if called to, take a bullet for us. And thus some riot and are supported in doing so by left wing groups. When you get to that state of intellectual and moral degeneration, rioting and looting seem like normal responses to a moped accident or almost anything else. There’s no rhyme nor reason to it. It is just our sad reality.
