During President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign rally in Wisconsin on Thursday night, supporters chanted “Nobel Peace Prize!”

As the president began to discuss his brokered peace agreements between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Israel, the chant began.

“I got nominated twice for the Nobel Peace prize,” Trump said. “I guess that’s a big deal, I don’t know.”

Trump Was Nominated For The Nobel Peace Prize – Twice

Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize by Norwegian politician Christian Tybring-Gjedde for brokering a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The President was nominated a second time by Magnus Jacobson, a member of the Swedish Parliament for the Christian Democrats party, for Trump’s efforts in arranging an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

Breitbart noted Thursday that, “Heads of State or political figures can nominate individuals for the prize, as well as foreign policy institutions and past winners of the Nobel prize. A five-person Nobel Committee appointed by the Norwegian Parliament chooses the winner from the submitted nominations.”

During his Wisconsin rally, Trump blasted the media for ignoring his nominations, though they worked overtime to praise former President Barack Obama when he won the award.

“Obama got it in his first couple of weeks and nobody knew why he got it, including him,” Trump said. “Remember, he couldn’t tell you why. He has no idea why he got it.”

Trump also criticized Obama for failing to do much to promote peace in the Middle East or anywhere else on globe.

“Frankly, he did a lousy job,” Trump said. “He was a lousy president. He really was.”

Nobel Officials Later Regretted Giving Award To Obama

Obama received the Nobel Peace prize at the very beginning of his first term, but after his foreign policy and diplomatic decisions failed to live up to his 2008 antiwar and conciliatory campaign rhetoric, Nobel officials publicly regretted giving Obama the prize.

“No Nobel Peace Prize ever elicited more attention than the 2009 prize to Barack Obama,” said Nobel Secretary Gier Lundestad in 2015.

“Even many of Obama’s supporters believed that the prize was a mistake,” he added. “In that sense the committee didn’t achieve what it had hoped for.”
