There were several top moments – some highlights, some lowlights – for President Trump and Joe Biden during last night’s presidential debate.

By now, you’ve probably heard that Tuesday’s debate has been described by CNN host Dana Bash as a “s***show.”

That is due in large part to moderator Chris Wallace being unable to control the crosstalk and interruptions from both candidates.

The media today will likely focus on the negatives from President Trump’s debate performance, but we’re going to focus on the positives.

Why? Because there were several top moments from the President that are expected to go almost entirely ignored today by mainstream pundits in the aftermath of the debate.

Trump Calls Out Chris Wallace in a Top Debate Moment

Early on in the proceedings, President Trump made it quite clear he was debating two adversaries – Biden and Wallace.

After Wallace challenged Trump on replacing Obamacare, the two had a spirited back and forth.

Wallace asserted himself as the moderator and repeated a question from a negative standpoint.

The Fox News host accused the President of  “never” come up with “a comprehensive plan to replace Obamacare,” charging that he only signed “a largely symbolic executive order to protect people with preexisting conditions five days before this debate.”

“Well, first of all, I guess I’m debating you, not him,” Trump fired back. “But that’s okay. I’m not surprised.”

It was an important comment that would call into question Wallace’s objectivity throughout the rest of the debate, something supporters of the President were skeptical of heading in.

Trump Gets Biden to Say He Does Not Support the Green New Deal

Biden was painted into a corner when he simultaneously had to denounce the Green New Deal to portray himself as a centrist while trying to simultaneously placate his radical base.

“The Green New Deal is not my plan,” Biden claimed after the President stated the price tag for the plan would be in the trillions.

Later on, Biden tripped up stating “The Green New Deal will pay for itself as we move forward.”

When challenged on the flip-flop, Biden replied, “I don’t support the Green New Deal.”

“Oh, you don’t? Oh, well, that’s a big statement,” a surprised Trump shot back. “You just lost the radical left.”

Biden’s own campaign website, in fact, says he does support the radical Green New Deal stating:

“Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face. It powerfully captures two basic truths, which are at the core of his plan: (1) the United States urgently needs to embrace greater ambition on an epic scale to meet the scope of this challenge, and (2) our environment and our economy are completely and totally connected.”

Trump Gets Biden to Deny He Called Soldiers ‘Stupid Bastards’

The President called out Biden on his support for the military in two steps – he denied the famed Atlantic article that claimed Trump called soldiers “suckers” and “losers” while pointing out Biden’s own eye-popping remarks.

“He made a statement about the military. He said I said something about the military,” Trump accused. “He and his [media] friends made it up, and then they went with it. I never said it.”

21 officials have forcefully denied the Atlantic piece according to the Trump campaign.

The President quickly followed up that denial by claiming Biden “called the military stupid bastards.”

“He said it on tape,” Trump pressed.

Biden replied, “I did not say that” and demanded Trump “play it [the tape].”

For the record, we can play the tape.

In addition to having the tape, Biden’s campaign authenticated the comment though they added context to the video.

“Vice President Biden was jokingly encouraging the audience to clap for an airwoman on the stage, and a number of service members can be seen laughing and smiling at the comment,” Andrew Bates, director of rapid response for the Biden campaign, told the Washington Examiner.

Biden, in that same speech, praised the troops, saying, “You’re the finest generation of warriors the world has ever, ever known. Thank you very, very, very much.”

Context is something President Trump is rarely afforded, but we provide it here.

Trump Hammers Joe Biden for Saying he Would Shut Down America’s Economy Again

Biden got battered by the President for saying he would shut America’s economy down again in response to the pandemic.

Democrats “think they’re hurting us by keeping them [their states and cities] closed,” Trump railed.

“They’re hurting people … Our country is coming back incredibly well, setting records as it does it — we don’t need somebody to come in and say, ‘Let’s shut it down,'” he continued.

Forbes reports that “voters are more likely to trust President Trump on economic issues than Joe Biden despite the current recession.”

Trump Stumps Biden When He Asks Him to Name One Law Enforcement Group That Supports His Candidacy

In one of the top debate moments of the night, President Trump challenged Biden to name one law enforcement group that supports his campaign.

Biden searched for a reply but awkwardly stayed silent for a brief moment before Wallace helped him out.

“He doesn’t have any law support. He has no law enforcement,” Trump claimed.

“That’s not true,” retorted Biden.

“Oh, really, who do you have name one group that supports you name one group that came out and supported you,” the President continued to press. “Go ahead. Think. We have time.”

Biden fumbled badly saying, “We don’t have time to do anything.”

Trump refused to let up, however.

“No, no think right now. Name one law enforcement group that came out in support of you,” he said before Wallace interjected.

So there you have it, the top debate moments for President Trump from last night’s debate.

A performance that prompted Geraldo Rivera to opine: “I thought that Joe wasn’t sharp, and the President I thought was so forceful at times that I thought he was gonna try and eat Joe Biden literally on the stage.”
