First Lady Melania Trump just fired back at the anonymously sourced story published in The Atlantic that claimed that her husband, President Donald Trump, had called fallen American soldiers “losers” and “suckers.”

Journalist Jeffrey Goldberg cited anonymous sources for his published story claiming that the president did not want to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery at the site of Battle of Belleau Wood in 2018. Anonymous sources quoted in the story cited that President Trump claimed the cemetery was “filled with losers” and referred to fallen soldiers who died at Belleau Wood as “suckers.”

Melania, however, was not having any of it. She just took to Twitter to confirm that this story is absolutely false.

“[The Atlantic] story is not true,” Melania said. “It has become a very dangerous time when anonymous sources are believed above all else, & no one knows their motivation. This is not journalism – It is activism. And it is a disservice to the people of our great nation.”

This comes after President Trump himself also denied the story.

“It was a totally fake story, and that was confirmed by many people who were actually there,” he said.

“It’s a fake story, and it’s a disgrace that they’re allowed to do it,” Trump added.

The president went on to say that he sees fallen members of the U.S. military as heroes.

“There’s nobody that considers the military, especially people that have given their lives in the military, to me, they’re heroes,” Trump said. “It’s even hard to believe how they could do it…the level of bravery. To me, they are absolute heroes.”

He also pointed out that former National Security Advisor John Bolton had referenced this same trip in his book, yet he did not mention Trump saying these words at all.

“I hate to bring up his book, but John Bolton, no friend of mine…he talked about this incident, and he doesn’t mention it,” Trump said.
