The late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away last Friday at the age of 87, was known for being a devoted Democrat. However, that does not mean that she subscribed to everything that the modern race-baiting left believes in.

This was shown after Ginsburg’s death, when comments she made back in 2016 blasting the then-NFL star Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem resurfaced.

During an interview with Katie Couric, Ginsburg held nothing back when she was asked about Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem before his games, calling his protest “dumb and disrespectful.”

“I think it’s really dumb of them,” she said of Kapernick and his fellow anthem-kneeling athletes. “Would I arrest them for doing it? No, I think it’s dumb and disrespectful. I would have the same answer if you asked me about flag burning. I think it’s a terrible thing to do, but I wouldn’t lock a person up for doing it. I would point out how ridiculous it seems to me to do such an act.”

Couric was clearly a bit taken aback by this, so she tried to give Ginsburg a chance to backtrack by saying, “But when it comes to these football players, you may find their actions offensive, but what you’re saying is, it’s within their rights to exercise those actions?”

Ginsburg refused to back down, however, only saying that there is no law against stupidity.

“Yes,” the justice said. “If they want to be stupid, there’s no law that should be preventive. If they want to be arrogant, there’s no law that prevents them from that. What I would do is strongly take issue with the point of view that they are expressing when they do that.”

Sadly, in the years since this interview took place, kneeling during the anthem has become the norm in the NFL. However, it’s still nice to see that while we didn’t agree with Ginsburg on much when she was alive, we could all agree that Kaepernick and his anthem-kneeling ways are “dumb and disrespectful.”
