Reminiscent of a Chinese Communist Cultural Revolution self-criticism session, with language to match, George Washington University professor Jessica Krug on Thursday admitted she was not black. She had likely been claiming to be black to get job preferences in academia, given the alive-and-well leftwing racism in higher education, especially in D.C.

Like Rachel Dolezal before her, she knew that guilty white liberals and those seeking a ride on the affirmative action train could do good by faking an identity that would play well with the biases and prejudices of the Left.

Krug, who hilariously teaches black history at GWU, came clean on a blog post on Medium entitled, “The Truth, and the Anti-Black Violence of My Lies.” Here comes the creepy self-flagellation, “To an escalating degree over my adult life, I have eschewed my lived experience as a white Jewish child in suburban Kansas City under various assumed identities within a blackness that I had no right to claim: first North African blackness, then U.S. rooted blackness, then Caribbean rooted Bronx blackness.”

Krug said her action “is the very epitome of violence, of thievery and appropriation, of the myriad ways in which non-black people continue to use and abuse black identities and cultures.” There she amusingly tries to blame white racism for her blackface masquerade. The poor thing is desperate to self-immolate to prove her Bolshevik credentials. But she only comes across as whiny and pathetic. Now, she blames it on her parents and a supposed mental health condition.

“The mental health professionals from whom I have been so belatedly seeking help assure me that this is a common response to some of the severe trauma that marked my early childhood and teen years,” Krug said.

“I am not a culture vulture. I am a culture leach. I have thought about ending these lies many times over many years, but my cowardice was always more powerful than my ethics. I know right from wrong. I know history. I know power. I am a coward.” Though apparently, she doesn’t know how to write an adult apology. Instead, her innate masochism, so prevalent amongst the Left, begs us to purify her through severe castigation. Nah, we’ll pass on that. We’ll stick with standard mockery.

Some of her students had more than a bit to say on the matter.

Who knows what self-loathing lies at the heart of something like this? It has to be profound, as is the same masochism of the Left that drew her to it in the first place. That and simple resume padding, though in a racial sense. She thought being black was a ticket to advancement and perks in academia. And actually, you can’t blame her, as an emphasis on race and not merit has for decades been a hallmark of faculty membership at most American colleges and universities. Such tokenism will continue to be the case as long as the Left’s “long march through the institutions” forges on.
