A chilling video is going viral this week showing a retired NYPD sergeant being brutally beaten with over a dozen punches to the head in broad daylight. The entire incident, which happened on Tuesday morning in Manhattan, was captured on surveillance footage.

The video opens with the police sergeant talking to his attacker for at least a minute outside a Garment District deli on West 39th Street, according to the New York Post. The suspect, who has since been identified as 20-year-old Masterjadin Roman, then throws what appears to be a bottle at the retired officer.

The retired cop responds by charging at Roman, who immediately lifts him and slams him onto the sidewalk. That’s when the beating begins, with Roman landing over a dozen punches to the retired sergeant’s head.

When the beating finally comes to an end, Roman and his accomplice seem to steal a cellphone and headphones from the former NYPD sergeant before beginning to walk away.

Sadly, that is not where the video ends.

The retired sergeant tries to get up from the sidewalk, and another man steps in to help him. When Roman sees this, however, he comes back and kicks the former cop in the head.

Though it is not clear what motivated this attack, police say that Roman has been accused of aggressive panhandling and given a desk appearance ticket. As you can see in the video, a number of people witnessed the attack, yet nobody did anything to stop it.

This comes as anti-police sentiments are at an all-time high in the United States in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Violence against NYPD officers continue to be on the rise, as liberal leaders keep vilifying them seemingly every chance they get.

This just goes to show that American police officers need our support now more than ever.
