An elderly man was brutally assaulted on Monday night as he attempted to use a fire extinguisher to defend his burning business from looters. The entire incident was captured in a video that has since gone viral.

The footage opens with an older man desperately running around a street corner with a fire extinguisher as his business burns. As the man rushes in front of the camera, the woman recording what is happening apologizes to him.

As the man reaches the store entrance, looters come running out the front, and he tries to fight back by spraying his fire extinguisher at them. That’s when a rioter begins assaulting the elderly business owner, knocking him to the ground.

As the woman recording the incident runs up to the man, his face is visibly bloody and he appears to be in a daze. You can watch the video below (warning—graphic imagery and foul language ahead):

“He didn’t deserve any of that! Any of it!” the woman recording the assault said afterward. “This is just wrong guys, do you not see this? This is wrong! This is what’s gonna happen to every one of you when this goes nationwide! I don’t think you realize this. Please, guys.”

Another woman can be heard defending the looters, shouting back at her, “We tryin’ to protect ourselves! You don’t understand what terrifies these black men out here. They not making it home to their families. Understand! Respect! How ’bout that? It’s called respect.”

Kenosha has become the latest American city to descend into chaos, with riots overtaking in the wake of the police-related shooting of Jacob Blake on Sunday. Since then, rioters have descended on the Wisconsin city, leaving business owners like the elderly man in this video helpless to protect their livelihoods.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up for the elderly man who was victimized in this video.

“Monday August 24, 2020 protesters and looters set fire to Sue and Keith’s magical mattress shop in Kenosha, WI,” the page states. “The building and all contents are completely destroyed. Our dear friend Robert was onsite and tried to stop the fire. Robert was viciously attacked and beaten. Emergency medical attention was needed and further surgery will be required.”

I have known this wonderful folks for years. They are honest, hard working and honorable people. Please give if you can and please please share.”
