The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources just announced a new mandate requiring all employees to wear face masks, even if they’re home alone on virtual meetings.

Officials in the state’s department aren’t even trying to hide the fact that the sole purpose of this mandate is to virtue signal the importance of wearing masks, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff,” Natural Resources Secretary Preston Cole told his employees. “Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”

“By wearing a mask while video conferencing with the general public, we visually remind folks that masking is an important part of navigating the business of natural resources during this tumultuous time,” DNR spokesperson Megan Sheridan added to McClatchy.

We shouldn’t even need to tell you that there is no documented health benefit to having someone wear a mask when they are alone in their own home.

“In general I would tie mask use to transmission risk, and that (being at home on a Zoom call) doesn’t seem to be a good reason to wear it,” said Nasia Safdar, the medical director of infection control at UW Health.

Thankfully, not everyone is caving to this madness, as some people are still speaking out to point out the foolishness of this mandate.

“I’m more inclined to support things that actually do help as opposed to just putting on an appearance of helping,” said GOP state Rep. Joe Sanfelippo.

This just goes to show that much of the drama surrounding face masks isn’t even about COVID-19 anymore. Instead, it’s about power and control. Liberals see face masks as an opportunity to virtue signal and tell others what to do, two things that are favorite pastimes of leftists everywhere.

This nonsense has gone way too far.
