Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) will only be allowed to speak for one minute at next week’s Democratic National Convention (DNC). Dear God, municipal sewer chiefs from Oakland usually get more air time.

This is a message from the Biden campaign to the Bolshies, Trots, and Tankies under their tent: “You got Harris on the ticket. But you’ve got to lay low for now so we can effectively fool Middle America. Thus, for all current purposes, drop dead.”

Ally’s feeble-minded social media legions were not happy about their heroine’s primetime limitation. “What a slap to the progressive wing,” one Twitter gorgon wrote. “It’s a constant spite of us. They think we will cower and peter [out]. They are wrong. We ain’t going anywhere. With @AOC as our leader we’re just getting started. Now that the squad was re-elected we are ready to rumble in the halls of Congress.”

Another harpy: “Other speakers should finish early then say at the end of [theirs] that the remainder of their time is going to @AOC.”

The beat goes on. “Democratic Establishment have no clue how many hard-core Democratic voters are abandoning them only because of their ignorant left vs. right mantra,” a Twitter harridan wrote. “The strategy which makes Trump win in 2016 is being dumped by the DNC. They are digging their own graves. [Bill] Clinton was given 15 minutes in 1988. He spoke for 33 and was booed off the stage. Obama spoke for 17 minutes (including stopping for applause 33 times!), it wasn’t even shown on network TV, and he made us believe we could change the world. I can’t wait for AOC’s 60 seconds.”

Points for historical accuracy, but it’s ruined by the “change the world” line. I mean, princess, you kind of did alter the globe, I guess. You ushered in the presidency of Donald Trump whereupon he undid most of the damage your pal Barry had wrought. Thanks, I think.

AOC and her Squad may end up with the short end of the stick, as the pros now take over and will advocate a run to the relative middle for the general election. Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar, Pressley, and other distaff riff raff could be relegated to street fairs and lesbian folk-singing festivals.

Giving them any more exposure risks (aside from Ally’s more obvious charms) swing voters seeing them as an example of national Democrat extremism. That will not play well in Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Mexico, New Hampshire, and in other states that may be up for grabs in November. So Pelosi and Biden, with the competent aid of operatives whose names you will never know, will keep their ideologically bucking horses in the barn and hope the public generally forgets about them. One problem with that strategy: No one told the horses and they have an awful loud and obnoxious whinny.
