Joe Biden gave a speech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Monday in which he made a series of humiliating mistakes as he struggled to read a teleprompter. None of this mattered to radically liberal Hollywood actor and director Rob Reiner, however, as he was quick to lavish praise on the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee.

“I watch Joe Biden and I see a man who can save Democracy,” Reiner tweeted after watching the latest failure among Biden speeches.

Unlike Reiner, when I look at Biden, I just see a man who is so hopelessly in over his head that he can’t get through a single speech without making embarrassing faux pas. During his speech, Biden got lost in his own words as he tried to talk about the coronavirus pandemic.

“COVID has taken this year, just since the outbreak, has taken more than 100 year—look, here’s, the lives, it’s just, it’s, er, I mean, y’think about it,” Biden said. “More lives this year than any other year for the past hundred years.”

He then tried to blame President Donald Trump for the violence and unrest across America.

“Fires are burning and we have a president who fans the flames, rather than fighting the flames,” he said. “But we must not burn, we have to build.”

Yet another brain freeze came about for Biden when he attempted to accuse Trump of “stroking” violence in cities besieged by riots.

Reiner was only able to look past this because he has long been consumed by disdain for President Trump. On Sunday, he blamed Trump for the violence in Portland, Oregon despite the fact that the president’s offer to send federal forces to the city was rejected by Democratic Mayor Ted Wheeler.

“Donald Trump is taking a page out Charles Manson’s playbook,” Reiner tweeted. “Start a race war, then convince the public you alone can end it. He’s a lying racist piece of garbage.”
