On Saturday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was quick to blast President Donald Trump for signing an executive order after Congress did not pass a second coronavirus relief package. However, she was singing a very different tune when Barack Obama did the same thing during his presidency.

As soon as President Trump signed his payroll tax cut, Pelosi released a joint statement with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) claiming that the president’s order “endanger[s] seniors’ Social Security and Medicare.” Trump’s order deferred payroll taxes until the end of the year, putting money directly into the pockets of Americans who desperately need it right now, yet Pelosi still condemned it.

“While he says he’s going to do the payroll tax, what he’s doing is undermining Social Security and Medicare, so these are illusions,” she said during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”

Unfortunately for Pelosi, her past has since come back to haunt her, exposing her as the hypocrite that she is.

Back in 2010, Obama announced a payroll tax cut of his own, from 6.2% to 4.2%, which he claimed would “create jobs and boost economic growth.” When Congress extended the tax cut one year later, Pelosi was quick to rejoice, calling it a “victory for all Americans.”

“Today is a victory for all Americans — for the security of our middle class, for the health of our seniors, and for economic growth and job creation,” Pelosi said in a statement at the time. “The American people spoke out clearly and, thanks to President Obama’s leadership, 160 million Americans will continue to receive their payroll tax cut — nearly $40 per paycheck in the pockets of the average family. I salute the work of the unified House Democratic caucus on behalf of the American people.”

Congress would go on to extend the tax cut again in 2012, at which time Pelosi said it was “necessary because our economy and our people need this boost.” In the above interview with PBS, Pelosi even said that she did not believe the tax cut endangered Social Security and Medicare, though she is now saying the complete opposite.

“The [Social Security and Medicare] trust fund can handle that,” she said bluntly.

This proves once and for all that Pelosi is one of the biggest hypocrites in Congress. The woman has no shame.
