Over the past few weeks, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has been hit with numerous claims related to her allegedly turning a blind eye to racism, intimidation, and sexual misconduct on the set of her eponymous talk show. Now, former late night host Jay Leno is speaking out as one of the few celebrities to publicly defend DeGeneres.

“I don’t discard a 40-year friendship on hearsay,” Leno tweeted. “The Ellen I know has raised over $125 million dollars for charity and has always been a kind and decent person. I fully support her.”

A few other celebrities have defended DeGeneres as well, including former “That 70s Show” star Ashton Kutcher and singer Katy Perry.

“I haven’t spoken with @TheEllenShow and can only speak from my own experience,” Kutcher tweeted. “She & her team have only treated me & my team w/ respect & kindness. She never pandered to celebrity which I always saw as a refreshing honesty. When things aren’t right she handles it and fixes.”

“I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow,” Perry wrote on her Twitter page. “I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend.”

This comes days after one source with Telepictures said that DeGeneres has “had enough” of all the backlash and is considering quitting her show altogether.

“She feels she can’t go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show,” the insider told Daily Mail. “The truth is she knew what was going on, it’s her show. The buck stops with her. She can blame every executive under the sun – but Ellen is ultimately the one to blame.”

“Inside Telepictures we’ve had enough of her. She is a phony who does not practice what she preaches,” the source added. “The behavior of her show executives has been appalling, but [Ellen] is no better. In fact, she is the worst. It’s outrageous that she is trying to pretend that this is all a shock to her. The fish rots from the head, and Ellen is the head.”
