The GOP is pleasantly surprised over Biden’s pick of Kamala Harris as his running mate. Other choices like Tammy Duckworth or Val Demings could have given the president and the Republicans much more trouble. The far-left Harris is just what the doctor ordered to give Republicans a boost.

The Federalist editor Mollie Hemingway expounds, “I think there’s a reason why Republicans seem a little more excited by this pick than Democrats do tonight. There is a very good argument to make that Joe Biden messed up with this pick. He should have picked someone who would help get back those voters that were lost in 2016 when Hillary Clinton ran, and picking someone who was a centrist or a moderate would’ve made sense…[Biden] made a decision to go for a far-left, California Democrat, and I think this will be a moment where people look back on what happened to the Biden campaign and say this was not a good decision for him.”

President Trump echoed the criticism: “She did very very poorly in primaries, she ended up right around two percent. She was very disrespectful to Joe Biden. It’s hard to pick someone that was that disrespectful… She is a person that’s told many many stories that were not true… She wants to raise taxes, slash funds to our military, she’s against fracking…she’s in favor of socialized medicine—she wants to take health care plans away from 180 million Americans.”

Biden himself took shots at Harris in the primary season over her enthusiasm for arbitrarily locking up defendants. “What happened? Along came a federal judge and said enough is enough and he freed 1,000 of these people,” Biden said.

Also in the primary season Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, in a dramatic and impressive moment for Gabbard, accused Harris of keeping “people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California.”

Socialists beg to disagree: “She understands what it takes to stand up for working people, fight for health care for all, and take down the most corrupt administration in history. Let’s get to work and win,” said Senator Bernie Sanders.

But former Sanders aide and influential hard leftist Joy Gray disagrees with her former boss and echoes a growing concern within the Bolshevik wing of the Democratic Party: “We are in the midst of the largest protest movement in American history, the subject of which is excessive policing, and the Democratic Party chose a ‘top cop’ and the author of the Joe Biden crime bill to save us from Trump. The contempt for the base is, wow.”

Establishment robot Senator Elizabeth Warren parts company with Gray: “Kamala Harris will be a great partner to @JoeBiden in making our government a powerful force for good in the fight for social, racial, and economic justice.”

Trump campaign senior adviser Katrina Pierson has the last and most definitive word on Harris: “In her failed attempt at running for president, Kamala Harris gleefully embraced the Left’s radical manifesto, calling for trillions of dollars in new taxes and backing Bernie Sanders’ government takeover of health care. She is proof that Joe Biden is an empty shell being filled with the extreme agenda of the radicals on the Left.”
