Kevin Clinesmith, a former lawyer for the FBI, is to plead guilty in the first criminal case arising from the Russiagate probe.
Clinesmith, a partisan hack lawyer who worked for the FBI, will plead guilty to charges that he made a false statement, sources told the media on Friday. This is the first criminal case that arose from the Russiagate probe by U.S. Attorney John Durham, analyzing and investigating the hacking and monitoring of President Donald Trump’s campaign during the 2016 presidential elections.
The charge relates to an accusation by Durham that Clinesmith, although never identified by name, doctored an email relating to Carter Page, a former advisor to President Trump, so that Page would not appear to be a source for another government agency. Page had, in fact, been an asset for the CIA.
Clinesmith’s lawyer, Justin Shur, told the Associated Press that he will plead guilty to one count of making a false statement.
“Kevin deeply regrets having altered the email. It was never his intent to mislead the court or his colleagues as he believed the information he relayed was accurate. But Kevin understands what he did was wrong and accepts responsibility,” Shur later said in a statement.
President Trump reacted to the news on Friday, telling reporters that this is “just the beginning I would imagine,” labelling Clinesmith as “a corrupt attorney” who worked for “James Comey’s very corrupt FBI.”
“The fact is they spied on my campaign and got caught,” President Trump added.
Clinesmith is absolutely a Democrat lackey. In 2016, just after President Trump was elected, Clinesmith texted “viva la resistance,” to a colleague at the FBI, which to me is a pretty clear indication that he wanted to take the president down from the bowels of the Deep State.
This is only the first charge of many. With the FBI having lied to the FISA courts, there is no way that Clinesmith is the only corrupt official going down. He is only the first casualty of this Russiagate probe, which, if we’re lucky, will take down even those at the very top of the Deep State pyramid.
