Members of the U.S. populous misunderstanding our law enforcement officers and treating them poorly is sadly not a new thing, but never has a year allowed so many lies to be perpetuated, whether by the media, politicians or their proxy groups.  The outcomes related to such ignorance have been repeated attacks on our law enforcement community, verbal and physical, and unbridled efforts to dismantle the good name of our police community.

Dating back several years right here in Jacksonville Beach, Cruisers made national headlines for their kitchen staff spitting in food prior to it being served to law enforcement officers. In recent months Five Guys and Starbucks have each had locations under fire for their treatment and/or refusal to serve police.

Unfortunately, that trend continued in Illinois last week when a Dunkin’ Donuts employee was arrested for spitting in a State Trooper’s coffee.  The trooper only discovered what was described as a thick piece of mucus in his coffee because he had removed the lid to let it cool down.

The substance in the coffee was later identified as saliva, per the Illinois State Police.

Following the incident, the suspected cop-hater Vincent Sessler, 25, was arrested.  The Dunkin’ Donuts employee was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless conduct, and battery to a peace officer.

In response to the incident, ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly said, “This is outrageous and disgusting. The men and women of the Illinois State Police put their heart and soul into protecting the lives and rights of all people in this state every day.”

He continued, “they deserve better than this insulting and dangerous treatment. For their safety, ISP officers and employees will be prohibited from patronizing this location.”

Fortunately, ISP was not the only organization disappointed in such unappreciative and disrespectful behavior.

Dunkin’ Donuts fired Sessler for his conduct, something that some organizations would refuse to do under current conditions in order to maintain their “woke” status.

A company official was quoted as saying, “the type of behavior reported to us is inconsistent with the brand’s values.”

They continued, “Dunkin’ has a deep appreciation for police officers who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, and the franchise owner has reached out directly to the officer to apologize for the experience.”
