Debra Messing accuses Dr. Birx of ‘abetting unnecessary deaths and economic collapse’

Hollywood star Debra Messing of “Will & Grace” fame just launched a vile attack on Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House’s coronavirus response coordinator.

Messing took to Twitter on Sunday to embark on a lengthy rant against Dr. Birx, who was also attacked by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that same day.

“Dr. Birx, you and I met and did a panel together in DcC at the International AIDS Conference years ago,” Messing wrote. “You were clearly devoted to science and data as our weapon against the spread of HIV/AIDS globally. You were completely non-partisan. You have since been used by the WH to put out sound bites, out of full contexts, to serve Trump’s narrative that our #Covid_19 situation is better than it is. Most people do t understand the nuances of what you are saying. SPEAK PLAINLY. Covid is NOT ‘just going away.'”

“Saying the numbers may not be 100%accurate is twisted to ‘the situation isn’t that bad!’ And ultimately THAT turns to ‘Don’t trust the DATA,'” she added. “If you want your great Legacy destroyed, continue on. If you want to be a scientist who meaningfully helps our country, say it simply. The virus is spreading everywhere. People are responsible because there is no national requirement to wear masks and stay 6feet away.”

“SAY THE TRUTH— if everyone wore masks and socially distanced and washed their hands constantly, COVID WILL go away quickly and people can safely return to school and work,” Messing concluded. “Our ECO NOMY will recover ONLY when a national plan for mask wearing, testing, & tracing is achieved. Anything less than that, you are abetting the unnecessary deaths&economic collapse of our country. The suffering &despair will not stop until you speak truth to power. Please do the what’s right.”

Do you agree that protesting is acceptable, but rioting is not?

Despite what Messing said, Dr. Birx has not been downplaying COVID-19.

“What we are seeing today is different from March and April,” Birx told CNN on Sunday. “This epidemic right now is different and it’s more widespread and it’s both rural and urban.”
