The riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin are continuing to escalate this week in the wake of the police-involved shooting of Jacob Blake. Now, it’s being reported that Black Lives Matter rioters just set a building in Kenosha on fire while families were trapped inside.

In a livestream of one of the many fires that had been set in the Wisconsin city, a woman can be heard saying that families were trapped inside an apartment building that was engulfed in flames.

“There’s families still trapped inside those apartments y’all,” the woman said. “They can’t get out.”

Rioters also set a bank on fire in Kenosha with the intention of robbing it.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency on Tuesday, doubling the National Guard deployment in Kenosha from 125 to 250 while also urging calm.

“We cannot allow the cycle of systemic racism and injustice to continue,” said Evers, according to the Associated Press. “We also cannot continue going down this path of damage and destruction.”

Even Blake’s own mother, Julia Jackson, has called for the violence to end, saying that if her son could see it, he would be “very unpleased.” He is still in this hospital at this time recovering from his injuries, but it’s been reported that he is currently paralyzed from the waist down.

Jackson gave a powerful speech to reporters on Tuesday saying that it is time to heal.

“Citizens, police officers, firemen, clergy, politicians, do Jacob justice on this level and examine your hearts. We need healing,” Julia Jackson said. “As I pray for my son’s healing physically and emotionally and spiritually, I also have been praying, even before this healing, of our country.”

“We are the United States. Have we been united?” she added. “To all of the police officers, I’m praying for you and your families. To all of the citizens, my Black and brown sisters and brothers, I’m praying for you. I believe you are an intelligent being just like the rest of us. Everybody, let’s use our hearts, our love, and our intelligence to work together to show the rest of the world how humans are supposed to treat each other. America is great when we behave greatly.”
